AIA Atlanta Remembers Robert Lewis Brown Jr., FAIA

AIA Atlanta mourns the passing of one of the giants in our profession, Robert L. Brown Jr., FAIA (November 28, 1951 – April 23, 2026). He will be missed by his friends and family, and will leave a gaping hole for leadership in our profession. He was often called the most powerful architect in Georgia, mainly for his outstanding work as a citizen architect in his roles as Chair and Board Director of the Georgia Department of Transportation.

A celebration of life service was held on Saturday, May 2, at Beulah M.B. Church in Decatur, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Robert L. Brown, Jr. Fund- The Georgia Historical Society.

Return soon for more as AIA compiles a robust and full reckoning of his career and professional impact in the coming weeks.
