Topics are designed to reach all members of the organization from those just starting their career to those looking to transition out of their career.
For the last two years, I have also been a member of the finance committee helping to create and shape both strategies and guidelines for the organization’s short- and long-term investments.
My primary goal, should I be elected to this role, is to provide sound stewardship and oversite for financial direction of the organization and to make sure the membership dues are spent diligently and purposefully. Having been through several recession cycles in my career, I fully understand the necessity of the organization to be run efficiently, especially in times of financial uncertainty like the current business climate.

Communications Director
Ashvini Dinoy, AIA
XAshvini Dinoy, AIAName: Ashvini Dinoy, AIA
Company: Dwell Design Studio
Desired Position: Communications Director
Biography: I’m Ashvini Dinoy, Principal at Dwell Design Studio, with 20 years of architectural experience spanning New York, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. I specialize in complex mixed-use and high-rise projects and hold credentials as a LEED AP® BD+C and Fitwel Ambassador. A graduate of Virginia Tech, I’m known for adaptability, leadership, and commitment to equity and mentorship. I helped establish DEI councils at major Atlanta firms and currently serve as AIA Atlanta’s Communications Director, DEI Chair at Dwell, and a NOMA member. My passion lies in creating inclusive workplaces and advancing architecture through advocacy, collaboration, and purpose-driven design.
Statement of Qualifications: As the current Comms Director, I feel passionate about bringing to limelight some of the best that our ATL architectural community has to offer. There is so much good work that our amazing architects and firms have been putting out there, some of which deserve some National attention. With the support of the Staff, I was able to champion a collaborative effort with ByDesign, a CBS TV series, which when funded by material spotlights, document projects in a very professional way, and get them to be aired on LIVE TV.
We also hosted an exclusive premiere in Plaza Theatre this summer and showcased the first 5 projects that were filmed. This event was a roaring success, and we were houseful! The members loved this and showed immense interest in getting their projects showcased. So much so, we have around 20 projects (5 more than our original target) ready to be filmed or aired, that they want to do an Atlanta Bydesign exclusive on our local CBS TV. We want to maintain this pace for another 6 months at least and get as many projects as possible filmed.
It has truly been very inspiring and encouraging for me to work with our AIA ATL Staff and members this past year and half, but I feel like I am just getting started here! I believe I have more to offer, and the additional tenure will help keep the momentum going. I appreciate your consideration.

Emerging Professionals Director
Akhil Hemanth, Assoc. AIA
XAkhil Hemanth, Assoc. AIAName: Akhil Hemanth, Assoc. AIA
Company: Newcomb & Boyd
Desired Position: Emerging Professionals Director
Biography: Akhil Hemanth is an AI Technology Architect advancing digital transformation in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. At Newcomb & Boyd, he leads the integration of artificial intelligence into design workflows, bridging creativity and computation. As Education Chair for AIA Aspire, he curates thought leadership on innovation and digital practice. A self-taught programmer, he developed the 4 E’s of AI Adoption and practical tools to improve efficiency and decision-making. Featured in Architect Magazine and speaking at major conferences, Akhil champions a future where AI empowers architects and engineers to focus on creativity, connection, and meaningful impact.
Statement of Qualifications: I believe architecture evolves when knowledge is shared, not guarded. As Chair of Continuing Education for AIA Aspire, I’ve seen how a single workshop or conversation can ignite new thinking. Our profession grows when we treat learning as collaboration — not competition.
At Newcomb & Boyd, where I work as an AI Technology Architect, I’ve learned that structure, data, and systems are the foundation for better design. The more we organize information, the more intelligent our outcomes become. I believe the same applies to people — when we connect, share, and learn together, our collective intelligence advances.
When I lived in Savannah, the AIA Savannah chapter met every second Thursday — casual gatherings with food, conversation, and a genuine sense of belonging. That small community helped me overcome my fear of public speaking and reminded me how transformative connection can be. I want to bring that same energy and openness to Atlanta.
As EP Director, my goal is to create spaces that educate, inspire, and connect. From ARE and software workshops to AI and design panels, and even casual meetups, I want to make professional development approachable and enjoyable. These moments of gathering are where ideas grow, networks form, and confidence builds.
I’m driven by curiosity, consistency, and a belief that progress comes from participation. This role, to me, is about building a culture where every emerging professional feels seen, supported, and equipped to lead the future of our field.
