Join us for a fireside chat with architecture leaders from Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State University, and Savannah College of Art and Design. Julie Ju-Youn Kim, AIA, Dr. Hazem Rashed-Ali, Assoc. AIA and Aaron Wilner, AIA, will share their visions for preparing the next generation of architects and shaping the profession’s future.
You will also learn how the American Institute of Architects and architecture firms can support students and ensure they are prepared for successful careers. Attendees will be treated to a hot breakfast and, following the conversation, an engaging Q&A session.

Georgia Institute of TechnologyJulie Ju-Youn Kim, AIAJulie Ju-Youn Kim, AIA is the William H. Harrison Professor and Chair at Georgia Institute of Technology’s School of Architecture, where she founded and currently directs the Flourishing Communities Collaborative, an interdisciplinary research and design lab. Incorporating goals of equity and inclusion in scholarship and design pedagogy, Julie received the 2023 AIA Georgia Educator of the Year and the 2023 ACSA Collaborative Practice Award, for connecting the academy and architectural practice by creating replicable models of engagement to expand equity through access.
As both an educator and a practitioner, Julie’s research advances the discourse around the future of the discipline and practice of Architecture.

Kennesaw State UniversityDr. Hazem Rashed-Ali, Assoc. AIAHazem Rashed-Ali is Professor and Dean of the College of Architecture and Construction Management in Kennesaw State University. He teaches design studios, building technology, and building performance simulation courses.
Professor Rashed-Ali’s research focuses on sustainable architecture and urbanism with an emphasis on minimizing the negative environmental impacts of the built environment through the design of high-performance, and carbon neutral buildings and communities. He is the recipient of several research grants both individually and as part of interdisciplinary teams. His work was published in prominent national and international conferences and journals. He is also a Past President of the Architectural Research Centers Consortium.

Aaron Wilner, AIA

Savannah College of Art and DesignAaron Wilner, AIAAaron Wilner is a seasoned architect and educator with extensive experience in the field of architecture. Before joining academia, he served as the Principal and Senior Design Architect at HOK in Atlanta, GA, from 2015 to 2023.
His career also includes significant roles at Lord Aeck Sargent, Choate + Hertlein Architects, and KPS Group, Inc., all based in Atlanta. Throughout his career, Aaron has been recognized for his contributions to architecture and design with numerous awards, including the ASID Georgia Chapter Gold Medal, multiple honors from the Environmental Design + Construction Magazine, and accolades from prestigious organizations such as the Urban Land Institute and the American Society of Landscape Architects. Aaron’s diverse portfolio and dedication to advancing architectural education and practice make him a respected figure in the field.
