Description
Residential Elevator Codes and Planning introduces the participant to fundamental concepts to consider when specifying a residential elevator. The course will cover relevant code, construction requirements, space layouts, and other important requirements needed to undertake this task.
Learning objectives
- Upon course completion, for the purpose of planning to specify a residential elevator, participants will have proficiency in understanding basic elevator codes and where to locate applicable guidelines, especially local jurisdiction for their plans.
- Participants will have a working knowledge and understanding of elevator system components to properly lay out a safe and suitable elevator hoistway space within a residence.
- Participants will understand the requirements for mechanical and control spaces and will be able to effectively plan for such spaces within the home to support safe elevator installation.
- Participants will have a working knowledge of hoistway access point requirements, including protection of access, and effectively plan for those spaces within the home layout.
