    Marc Johnson, AIA

    Marc Johnson, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, NOMA is an Architect and Designer who has accumulated a broad range of experience for over 27 years. He is originally from Los Angeles, schooled in DC at Howard University, and now resides in Metro Atlanta. He has led notable projects including several projects for the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport and the Center for Civil and Human Rights.

    Since his years in college, Marc has always found the time to be involved with his community. Lately, he spends his free time advocating for the profession of architecture through organizations such as the AIA and NOMA.

    For over a decade, through involvement, Laura has strived to improve her Atlanta community and AIA chapter. Her career has centered on historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects, aiming to keep history alive in all its truths while also being a champion in her firm’s progressive initiatives. Her professional passions focus on reestablishing architects’ value in society, given our responsibility to protect building users' health, safety, and welfare. With value understood, the profession can be better compensated, and employers would have financial means to support career development, diversity initiatives, competitive pay, and work/life balance that decreases burnout.

    Shelby Morris, AIA

    Shelby Morris, AIA brings over 20 years of experience to his role as Studio Practice Leader in Commercial Mixed-use at HKS Architects. Shelby graduated from Texas Tech University with a Master of Architecture in 2003. Initially drawn to the profession in high school through a mentorship program, he has spent his professional career paying it forward through numerous volunteer activities focused on developing leaders and promoting exposure to architecture. In his professional career, Shelby has led over $2 billion in design projects throughout the southeast and won awards from the AIA, DBIA, Building Design and Construction, ULI, and Atlanta Business Chronicle.

    KK Loy, AIA

    KK Loy, AIA, has over eight years of professional experience in multiple architecture disciplines and has persevered through various challenges, which shaped her into an adaptable and thoughtful leader. Select built projects include Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, Emory Musculoskeletal Institute, Trilith Mixed-Use Studios, and Shadowbox Movie Studios. She is currently getting a Master's degree in Real Estate Development at Georgia Tech. One of her primary focuses outside of work and school is to build and support the community by working with local nonprofits. KK is also an active member of the Urban Land Institute and works creatively to foster environmentally conscious design solutions.

    Desmond Johnson, AIA

    Desmond Johnson, AIA is a registered architect currently practicing in the Atlanta regional office of Moody Nolan. He is a 2013 alum of Florida A&M University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies, and a 2015 alumnus of the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he received his Master of Architecture. Desmond has a broad range of experience in both the public and private sectors, where he has successfully contributed to mixed-use, multi-family, office, hospitality, retail, institution, and urban design projects of varying scales. In addition to serving as the local Emerging Professionals and Membership Director, he is on the planning committee for the Young Architects Forum. In 2021, Desmond won the 2021 AIA Young Architects Award.

    Clayton Daspit, AIA

    In his twenty-eight-year career, Clayton has led a wide variety of project types, including schools, universities, convention centers, museums, churches, mixed-use/retail, office, and hotels. He strongly focuses on serving education clients, having designed public and private K-12 schools, and higher Education athletics, academic, dining, student center, and student housing projects on multiple campuses.

    His passion for working in a campus environment is driven by the pursuit of distinctive and appropriate buildings that respect the individual mission, culture and history of each institution. His projects explore a sense of place, history and campus interpretation, while seeking to create buildings with inspiring and delightful spaces that express the unique mission and personality of the programs they serve.

    Paul Van Slyke, AIA

    Paul was born in New York, moved to Virginia in high school and came to Atlanta to attend Georgia Tech for architecture. He wanted to be an architect all his life and first joined the AIA as a student at Georgia Tech. Paul recognized that Atlanta was a great, growing city while at Tech, and that prompted him to stay and continue his pursuit of architecture here. He worked at a couple of smaller firms but then found a great home at Nix Mann Architecture, where he learned a tremendous amount about the practice from Lewis and Henry. From there, Paul went out on his own to start Goode Van Slyke Architecture with his partner Chris Goode. They have been in business now for 28 years with no end in sight.

    Jennifer Kilpatrick, AIA

    Jenn believes inspired Architecture is rooted in an understanding and respect for the history and culture of a space, place and the people who occupy it.

    She is a graduate of SCAD (Master of Architecture with certificate in Preservation, 2011) and the University of Maryland (Bachelor of Science in Architecture, 2007), and completed the AIA Georgia’s Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program in 2023.

    In 2013, Jenn joined Gensler Atlanta, where she has worked in the retail and mixed-use practice areas. A licensed Architect, her experiences focus on international retail implementation as well as retail prototype and brand development and management.

    Kevin Young, AIA

    Kevin Young, AIA is the founder and Design Director of Young Architecture + Design, an Atlanta- based architectural studio.  He hails from a family of architects in Kingston, Jamaica. His childhood interest in drawing and design ignited his love of Architecture. He believes that it is foremost a pragmatic act which, if infused with an awareness of its contextual setting, and a sense of responsibility to society, acquires meaning and relevance. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Miami and a MSc in Architecture degree from the MIT.  He has practiced in leading firms in Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Miami, and Atlanta.

    Rudy Abbot, AIA

    Richard “Rudy” Abbot is a Project Architect in Corgan's aviation studio where he leads multi-disciplinary production teams on complex aviation design projects. Prior to chasing his passion for aviation and airport design, he worked as an Owner's Representative for institutional real estate investors and lenders. Richard holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Louisiana State University and is a licensed Architect in Georgia.

    Corey Miller, AIA is a senior project manager and senior associate at The S/L/A/M Collaborative. As a registered architect with over 25 years of experience, he has worked across a variety of project and delivery types for both private sector and government clients. Project types include collegiate sports, corporate offices, banking/financial services, and technology facilities. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, travel, and mentoring the next generation of young architects.

    My name is Ashvini Dinoy. I am a Principal at Dwell Design Studio. I believe the key to growth is to push yourself into situations that are beyond your comfort zone. I enjoy a good challenge and have worked in 6 cities over the span of 18 years on all kinds of architectural projects. I specialize in mixed-use residential & high-rise projects; I love seeing the pieces of the puzzle come together to create something spectacular. When not on the drawing board, I spend a lot of my time working on streamlining the design process, mentoring and talking about DEI.

    Jessica Gardenhire, AIA

    Jessica Gardenhire is a licensed architect with a passion for the industry.  As a project architect at SSOE Group, she works to mentor staff and assist with marketing and recruiting. Originally from Ohio, travel is a core tenant of her experience as a past native of Kansas, New York and California.  Her life travels allow architectural beauty and purpose to be wed with appreciation for details that she brings to her work.  In addition, her hobbies include yoga, painting, and hiking. She completed the CKLDP in Fall of 2023, and hopes to further contribute to the AIA community in Georgia.

    Sumegha Shah, AIA

    Sumegha Shah, AIA is a senior vice president at Cannon Design, leading the firm’s health education practice. Over the years, she has served with various committees and initiatives at AIA and USGBC. Having worked on new builds and renovations/additions, she values a deeper integration of sustainable design. Her international and diverse experience in over 18 years of practice has allowed her to broaden her knowledge in many areas of institutional and master planning projects and deepen her thought leadership in student life, health science and medical education, and wellness. She received her Master of Architecture in 2006 from the University of Cincinnati.

    Stuart Romm, AIA

    Stuart Romm, AIA, LEED AP, is a founding principal in the Atlanta architectural firm PRAXIS3, a multidisciplinary practice. His work has confronted the challenges of educational buildings, libraries, and affordable housing, such as Auburn Avenue's Renaissance Walk, winning a 2012 AIA Honor Award. Romm was also lead designer for Georgia Tech’s Library Renewal, Decatur’s Fire Station No.2, and UGA’s College of Environment-Design, which have won 2021, 2013, and 2011 AIA Georgia Design Awards.

    Romm has also been a Professor of the Practice at Georgia Tech, having taught architectural design studios and cross-disciplinary practice courses in the College of Design for 25 years.

    Zachery Terry, Assoc. AIA

    Zachery is an architectural designer and a job captain at Ware Malcomb. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Kennesaw State University in 2017. During his time as a student, he served on the AIA Georgia Executive Board as Student Director, becoming a liaison between the academic and professional realms of architecture. After graduating, he served as an executive board member for the Architecture Foundation of Georgia for three years, including on the Scholarship and the Marketing and Visibility committees. Zachery’s work experience ranges from biocontainment and laboratory planning in the healthcare, science, higher education, and government project types, to planning in large-scale industrial centers. He is most intrigued by architecture that creates intangibles such as memories, emotions, and experiences.

    Terry Miller, AIA

    Born and raised in Beaver Falls, PA, Terry became a licensed architect in 1996 and is now licensed in seven states. He moved to Georgia in 1997 and worked in several project architect and project manager roles before starting his practice, Miller Architecture and Planning, in 2004. Terry was elected to the Douglasville City Council in 2007 and 2017 and re-elected in 2021 with over 70 percent of the vote. He was chosen by his city council colleagues to be the City of Douglasville’s Mayor Pro Tem for the years 2021 and 2022. In addition to these accomplishments, Terry has made several very humble attempts in the performing arts by acting in two dinner theater productions and writing two locally produced plays, “The Long Ball” and “Small Time,” both of which were performed to critical acclaim in front of sold-out audiences.

    Amy Granelli

    Amy is a marketing strategist, relationship builder, and lifelong learner. With a focus on the Atlanta market, her 30-year career spans marketing and business development positions with architecture, interior architecture, and engineering firms. As Director of Marketing & Business Development at Eberly & Associates, Inc., Amy has been instrumental in growing Eberly’s mixed-use, multi-family, and education market sectors. Amy serves on the ULI Atlanta Advisory Committee and the CFL Class mTAP co-chair. She is also a 2022 ULI CFL graduate and has served as membership chair and at-large board member of the Atlanta Chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) and on the AIA Atlanta Architects Roundtable Committee for the past three years. Amy enjoys spending time with her husband and four young adult children in her free time.
