Honor Awards

The annual AIA Atlanta Honor Awards recognize exemplary leadership and service throughout the chapter, profession, and greater community. Nominations open to individuals, organizations, and firms in September, with eligibility criteria varying by category. Winners are announced in November at Build Something Great, AIA Atlanta’s award celebration and most prestigious event of the year.

  • Ivan Allen Sr. Award

    Ken Higa, AIA

    The most prestigious prize, the Ivan Allen Sr. Award, is awarded to the member who has made a deep and lasting impact on peers, AIA and the built environment, and therefore sustained the highest ideals of the profession.
  • Silver Medal

    HKS Atlanta

    The Silver Medal is the highest honor bestowed upon an architecture firm for its general excellence. The recipient has sustained outstanding performance in design quality and in community, political or AIA leadership in the interests of the profession.
  • John A. Busby Jr. Exceptional Young Architect Award

    Heather Potts Lang, AIA

    The John A. Busby Jr. Medal is given to a young member excelling in one or more of the areas: design excellence; AIA leadership; community involvement; pursuit of lifelong education; and/or managing or starting a firm.
  • John A. Busby Jr. Exceptional Young Architect Award

    Bridget Ellgass, AIA

    The John A. Busby Jr. Medal is given to a young member excelling in one or more of the areas: design excellence; AIA leadership; community involvement; pursuit of lifelong education; and/or managing or starting a firm.
  • Dorothy Spence Citizen Architect Award

    Jonathan Gould, AIA

    The Dorothy Spence Citizen Architect Award honors an AIA member who engages the community with a design mentality, seeing it as an architect sees a project: all connected. This award recognizes contributions made outside of AIA volunteer roles.
